What's Love Got to Do With It? : Starfire in the... →
I wasn’t going to do it. I wasn’t going to write about Starfire. After all, there have been at least three brilliant articles written about Starfire’s portrayal by DC in the newly-released comic Red Hood and the Outlaws, not to mention ComicsBulletin.com’s own take on the controversy, with input from quite a few contributors. I didn’t think I had anything to add to...

OMG this has so many notes.
Of course, my favourite part of the article is the audio version at the veeeery bottom of the page, wherein some poor soul is forced to read out loud all my terrible Frank Miller-esque “script excerpts.”
I am sorry.
So sorry.
*laughs* Oh, but it was so much fun! I’m pretty sure I *channeled* Frank Miller.
Thank you again for letting me...

Superheroes Wearing Jackets.: Why what DC does... →
superheroeswearingjackets:
Skim the 1,600+ comments on Laura Hudson’s article at Comics Alliance about how this week’s Catwoman and Red Hood and the Outlaws comics included an off-putting presentation of female characters, and you’ll see quite a few like this one:
Now, I can’t speak for Laura Hudson or Comics…
Worth reading the whole thing. Truth.

Worth Her Weight: Amanda Waller in the New 52 →
Just in case you missed it, the latest character to fall victim to DC’s often ill-thought-out redesigns is one Amanda “The Wall” Waller. She’s gone from being a “wall of a woman” to…looking like every other woman in comics. In other words, she’s svelte, with high cheekbones, big breasts, what some have termed “fuck-me lipstick”, a blouse...

So DC reboots. So what?
They say they’re doing it to attract more fans. Spoilers: The only people you are attracting are the ones who purchased your comics in the first place. It is not the characters or the storylines that need changing; It’s the mindset of the companies. So I’m sorry, DC, but maybe you and every other comic book company’s selling points need to change a little.

Remember that old chestnut, “98% of people masturbate, and the other 2% are liars?” I was reminded of it when thinking about illegal comic book downloading: everybody does it, no one will admit it. It’s the elephant in the room that no one’s willing to talk about, including and especially the ‘Big Two’, DC and Marvel…[read more]

Arrow Kids Day Finale: An Open Letter to DC →
daggerpen:
As #arrowkidsday draws to a close, a final message from the instigator… As some of you may have noticed, there was a bit of an influx of tweets today under the tag #ArrowKidsDay. This was the result of the efforts of a group of Connor, Mia, and/or Lian fans to raise awareness that these…

Fuck Yeah Mia: Arrow Kids Day →
fymia:
So. What do you all say, then? 9/07/11 to demand our favorite Arrow back? I’m thinking just generally making some noise at DC will work- tweeting Krul (@JTKRul) and the general DC accounts (@DC_Nation, @DCComics), writing to DC, etc. will work. Some type of “I love _____ because ____” thing might work, too, both in the DC letters and just general signal boosting, though Twitter’s...
